HYPERPIGMENTATION

HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS PIGMENTATION ON YOUR SKIN?
Let’s look into some of the common problems occurring in your skin that causes pigmentation!

  1. Age Spots
Singapore’s yearly intense hot & humid weather is a killer to our skin! Prolonged sun exposure can cause our skin to react negatively by inducing the appearance of dark spots that sunk our skin’s natural ‘colour’ or some may call it uneven colour on our skin. This is caused by over production of melanin. As the name suggests, it may happen as you age.  Sometimes, a trip to the tanning salon might not be the best thing to your skin if you did not have a proper skin care regime. ‘Expose’ with consideration as they say!
  2. Freckles
Freckles do not change the skin texture and they are usually seen as a flat circular spots in light brown colour. Freckles might occur genetically on some people. It tends to me smaller than age spots.  It could also occur on children, thus allowing it to re-occur as they grew into adulthood.
  3. Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
Developed through skin injury or improper wound healing on the skin; the inflammation causes the skin colour pigment to increase in production as oppose to normal skin cell regeneration.  Razor cuts from shaver, burning or those infected with acne tend to have this condition easily.
